🔵 Paper or cardboard packaging

Packaging with these symbols on the back go into the paper bin. 

⚪ 🟢 🟤️ Glass packaging

Packaging with these symbols on the back can be sorted into the appropriate glass bin. 

⚫️ Residual waste

Anything that we cannot reuse, such as diapers or vacuum cleaner bags, should go in the residual waste bin. 

🟤️ Biowaste

Biowaste consists of biodegradable waste such as unprocessed food leftovers and plant waste, should go in a biodegradable bag and a brown recycling bin. 

Facts about packaging recycling

Plastic and metal

  • Paper bags are more environmentally friendly than disposable plastic bags after the third use. 
  • Compared to plastic made from petroleum, every ton of recycled plastic saves 1 ton of CO2. 
  • Packaging must be emptied (not rinsed) and placed in the recycling bin. 
  • Recycled packaging often has a colour turbidity caused by the recycling process.

Paper or cardboard

  • The recycling rate for waste paper is already over 80 %. 
  • The Forest Stewardship Council awards the FSC seal to wood and paper products that come from environmentally friendly, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management. 

Glass

  • When sorting glass containers, aluminum lids can remain on the glass. 
  • Plastic lids must be placed in the yellow bin/yellow bag during sorting.
